For God, 2019

I worked with composer Mikko Sarvante on For God. I wanted music in which the harmony of Baroque music, with its harmonies developed to their extremes, was translated to the stage through the lens of jazz harmonies. The results are magical.

Wind Etude, 2016

Wind Etude focuses on the body's ability to sense sound waves in space. The dancers, among other things, sing, seeking harmony that is formed in the body as it listens to the sound coming from the speaker, striving to break away from the harmony as suggested by the musical ear.

Weight Etude, 2013

In this solo, I was interested in the questions of tuning and spatial-sound composition. The kinesthetic starting point was the body as a mass, which tunes space through the play of weight and lightness. Through the same idea of mass, I recorded clusters on the piano, which include the mass of the body and the weight of the echo of the sound. Composer Magnus Lindberg commented on the resulting solo music as exquisite. The work was part of my choreography studies at the University of the Arts Helsinki. In addition to the actual performances, it was performed at the Music Hall, where it was enthusiastically received.

Yli, 2012

After meeting composer Niilo Tarnainen and harpsichordist Aura Visala in a multi-arts course, we wanted to do something together that would connect the arts. This is where Yli came into play, where we considered the interfaces between composing and choreography. The work starts with baroque music and courtly dance, transforming into contemporary art. Performances at the Musica Nova festival and the Gallery opening at Leipätehdas.

Experience Classical Music - the production platform, realised numerous concerts in 2012, 2013, and 2014, where artists from different fields joined forces to create concert experiences where classical music is experienced multisensory. I was honoured to work with dance artist Elisa Tuovila in two concerts with Kaaås Trio and Qore Quartet. The music in the concerts was by Fanny Mendelssohn. With a background in classical music, we were able to create our dance with Tuovila in close connection with the music. Choreographically, we worked, among other things, with a movement inspired by the movement of musicians playing.
