Mechanosphere
In the summer of 2024, we built a test version of the Mechanit Project's next installation, focusing on solenoids, first in Punavuori and later in the Kone Foundation's residency in Mynämäki. The Punavuori phase offered an opportunity to understand the technical constraints of the work and examine the bodily sensations caused by being in the middle of the installation. In light of this information, we set out to frame the work that would be carried out later in the summer at the Kone Foundation's residency in Mynämäki.
I’m most interested in this work in the relationship between the nervous system and the installation's choreographic proposal for the audience. I am inspired to delve further into changes in mood and the regulation of nervous system reactions through choreographic means. The project's next phase would have occurred in the spring of 2026 at the HIAP residency in Suomenlinna, but unfortunately, we did not receive funding to make it possible for the team to take time to continue working on the project.
The aim for the next phase of the project is to test the installation with the audience and thereby obtain information about the experiences it evokes. Based on this data, I will direct the project forward.
